Answers in Genesis

18 Aug

I’ve often wondered how I can explain to my children that the science or history channels differ from our Biblical beliefs.  We have the Planet Earth DVD set and I’d advise my oldest to listen with one ear open and the other shut!  Whenever the commentator declared how many millions of years old the earth was or how this or that creature evolved, I cringed and held my breath.  Luckily, she understands that we believe in Creation not the Evolution Theory; and certainly not that man used to be a dumb cave dweller!  One only has to read ancient history to realize that civilizations thousands of years ago were full of intelligence and innovation!

A fellow church member forwarded a link to me – a web site that can be used to understand, teach and defend our Biblical worldview.  Answers in Genesis is a fabulous tool, offering many links to help readers discern the true age of our earth and creationism.  There’s a tab entitled “Get Answers” and it covers such topics as:

  • Age of the Earth
  • Anthropology
  • Astronomy
  • Death and Suffering
  • Dinosaurs
  • Ethics and Human Life
  • Evolution
  • Genetics
  • God and the Bible and more.

I’m considering a subscription to the Answers magazine .  I certainly can use all the support and help I can get!  Teaching a Biblical worldview amongst secular voices and multiple channels proclaiming only Evolutionism is very challenging but a necessity in my life.  What a delight to discover a teaching tool so close at hand.

Hi, and welcome to the wonderful world of homeschooling! For resources to help teach science from a Christian worldview, you might also investigate:
    -Apologia science currciulum
    -Master Books
    -Nature Friend Magazine
We teach our children “codewords”: “Millions of years”, “adaptations”, etc means evolution=LIES.
There are is also a wonderful video series (you can even get it from Netflix) called “Wonders of God’s creation” that uses real animals to show that evolution couldn’t be true; Newton’s Workshop is also great!
I blog about homeschooling/homepreschooling and have lots of articles/links that might help smooth your first year. I hope you’ll visit me at .
